How much do lessons cost?
There are three different lesson options
- group guitar lessons from £19.50 per lesson
- home tuition (most instruments offered) with one of our team from £23 online or £32 face-to-face
- one-to-one guitar, bass or ukulele lessons with Guitar Teacher Bushey director Peter Elliot from £25

Can I have a taster lesson?
It’s really important to try before you buy. We want to make sure you are completely happy with the service before purchasing a term or half a term of lessons. As such, we offer taster lessons for group guitar lessons, one-to-one lessons and home tuition.
One-to-one lessons
For one-to-one lessons, you may have up to three taster lessons. The first three lessons are each charged at:
- £22 per 30-minutes
- £29 per 40-minutes
- £39 per 55-minutes
You may pay for one lesson at a time with no further commitment.
Group guitar lessons
For group guitar lessons, students may either:
- join a new group – we start with a set of three lessons so that you can make sure the lessons are for you before committing to more
- join an existing group – have a FREE taster with your group following a one-to-one consultation lesson (from £22).
Home tuition
Home tuition students can start with a set of three lessons where only the first is non-refundable. If you are unhappy for any reason, we will refund the remaining lesson fees providing at least 48 hours’ notice is given in writing before the next lesson. The first three lessons are charged at:
- £96 for 3 x 30-minute lessons; £32 per lesson
- £123 for 3 x 45-minute lessons; £41 per lesson
- £150 for 3 x 60-minutes; £50 per lesson
Online Music Lessons
Students taking online music lessons can start with a set of three lessons where only the first is non-refundable. If you are unhappy for any reason, we will refund the remaining lesson fees providing at least 48 hours’ notice is given in writing before the next lesson. The first three lessons are charged at:
- £69 for 3 x 30-minute ONLINE lessons; £23 per lesson
- £96 for 3 x 45-minute ONLINE lessons; £32 per lesson
- £123 for 3 x 60-minute ONLINE lessons; £41 per lesson
What ages ranges do you teach?
Our group guitar lessons start from 7+, though we offer home tuition for most instruments from 5+. We’d recommend reading our blog, “Is my child old enough to start guitar lessons?“
We also teach adults with no upper age limit. You’re never too old to start!
My child is too young. Can s/he go on a waiting list?
Certainly. We have students on a waiting list up to 3 years in advance. Students on our waiting list are given top priority when new groups are formed. Please complete this form to sign up to our waiting list or get in touch for further information.

Where do lessons take place?
One-to-one and group guitar lessons take place in our studio at 1 Trundlers Way, Bushey Heath, WD23 1GW Bushey Heath.
We also offer home tuition between Watford and Stanmore for students who would prefer to take lessons in their own home.
Can I sit with my child during the lessons?
For one-to-one and home tuition, certainly. For younger students, we would highly recommend this as by sitting in the lessons, you will likely be able to help them with their practice. We do not allow parents to stay in the room for group lessons as unfortunately space is very limited.
Is there parking?
Unfortunately, there is no parking on site, though you can park on the road with no permits. There are normally spaces but if not, you should be able to find a space on Windmill Lane or Rutherford Way.
When are the lessons run?
Depending on the availability of the tutor, it is possible to arrange home tuition on any day of the week and any time. However, as our teachers are all performing professionals, we would generally advise to avoid taking lessons Friday-Sunday where possible to help ensure continuity with the lessons.
Lessons with our director Peter teaches are offered in our Bushey studio Monday-Thursday after school hours and Saturday mornings. We also have limited availability for daytime lessons.

What instruments do you teach?
We currently offer tuition for:
- electric guitar
- acoustic guitar
- classical guitar
- bass guitar
- ukulele
- piano
- drums
- saxophone
- clarinet
- flute
- violin
Do I need to have my own instrument?
You certainly will need your own instrument to enable you to practise and progress.
We run a hire scheme to help guitar, bass and ukulele students get started and are more than happy to give advise on the best guitar for your needs and budget. We’d recommend reading our blog, “The best affordable guitar for young beginners in 2021“.
For other instruments, your allocated tutor will be able to give you personalised advice for your aims and budget.
Should my child start with classical music?
It really comes down to personal preference but we don’t think this is necessary. Have a read of our blog, “Should beginners start with classical or pop guitar lessons in 2020?” to see why.
What styles of music do you teach?
We teach all styles of music. Our guitar groups focus on a range of contemporary guitar but between our director and our team of tutors, we have tutors to cover most styles that you would like to learn. If we cannot teach what you would like to learn, we’d be happy to recommend someone who can.
What is the difference between acoustic guitar and classical guitar?
An acoustic guitar uses steel strings which are held under more tension than their classical, nylon counterparts. Acoustic guitars sound brighter and are more appropriate for popular music, such as folk, blues and rock, whereas classical guitars are perfect for classical music. For younger students, we would normally recommend starting on a classical guitar even if they would prefer to play popular music. Beginner classical guitars are considerably cheaper than acoustic guitar and their strings are also much easier on the fingers.

I’m learning electric guitar. Do I need to bring an amp to the lesson?
No. We have guitar amps, bass amps and leads to plug in.
Would you recommend one-to-one or group lessons?
